Dear Friends:
Thank you to everyone who participated in the events yesterday in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. to save the North Korean refugees. We are hearing great responses from everyone around the country on the various events and will prepare a detailed report. In the meantime, below are some links to the various media stories that appeared on TV as well as in the print media from events in these various cities around the USA.
A quick report on events here in Washington, D.C. The event at the White House was well covered by the media including our appeal to President Barack Obama to raise the refugee issue when he participates in the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul next week. Members of the North Korea Freedom Coalition especially the Korean Freedom Alliance and Pilgrim Church did an outstanding job with the demonstrations here in D.C.. An amazing thing happened at the Chinese embassy -- when we arrived, there was no security! So we were able to deliver our letter for Hu Jintao AND the coffin symbolizing the refugees killed by Hu Jintao's repatriation policy -- I have cropped in below a picture of the coffin delivered to the PRC embassy yesterday. We had a wonderful visit to the South Korean embassy as well to encourage President Lee Myung Bak in his efforts on this issue.
Acta Non Verba,
Suzanne Scholte
