November 6, 2005 Honorable Ambassadors to the United Nations: I write this e-mail to your Excellency to urge you to vote yes to the UN resolution on the North Korean human rights violations. More than 3 million people died of systematic starvation in North Korea under the tyrannical regime of Kim Jong-il. Something has to be done. Many NGOs have saved thousands of refugees hiding in China. They all came to South Korea to live in freedom and democracy. However, there are more than 300 thousand refugees hiding in China. Individuals and NGOs cannot solve this problem. The world organization like the United Nations should do something about this modern-day holocaust. It is not a problem for the Koreans only; it is a problem for the entire world. We came a long way to raise awareness of the tragedy. The U.S. Congress passed the North Korean Human Rights Act of 2004 last year. Now, the EU sponsored this resolution warning the North Korean regime about its human rights violations. The human rights record of North Korea is comparable to that of the Nazis; starvation, imprisonment, torture, forced labor, public executions, infanticide, human experiments, mass relocation… the list goes on and on. Today, more than a thousand people die of starvation, torture, and execution in North Korea. This is a fact. You have to know the truth. Please vote yes to the resolution, which I heard will be at the General Assembly sometime this week. Silence on the NK human rights violations is a crime. Thank you.
